Red River Challenge

Dear Players & Parents/Spectators

Congrats on being selected to the 2007 Red River Team Challenge.  This is the 3rd year for the event and the score is tied at one team win per tour. We will have players from several states and Mexico. This is a great event with great memories for parents & players played at one of the most historic golf courses in the USA. Mr. Perry Maxwell is buried on the 17th Tee Box. Mr. Maxwell is one the greatest course designers in Golf History.  Please take the time to read the historical signs at the course.

1. I have posted an updated schedule of events on the tour. info page. Please make sure you read this carefully.  I have also pasted here as well.

2. Practice Rounds:  Plz just call the pro shop and they will fit you in once you arrive. Cost: $30

3. Tee Gifts:  Each player will receive a custom stiched hat and White Nike Polo Shirt along with the New "Rockin" TJGT Tee Shirts. Nike Golf will provide a dozen Platnimum Black Balls.

4. Uniforms:  Please wear your White Nike Polo shirt on Saturday with dark pants or shorts.   Sunday: Wear Dark Shirt (Black or Navy blue) & Khaki pants.   If you wear a hat, please wear only the Nike team hat provided at Registration.

5. Registration:  You can pick up your gifts on Friday at the scoreboard table or Saturday morning.  Registration will be open @ 7:00 am by the scoreboard.

6. Tournament Format:  Each player will assigned to a five man/woman team just like HS Golf.  The high score will be thrown out.

Teams will be matched by the team captains and one point will be awarded per match/team.  Tour Directors have three wild card players per
team that they can plug those scores into any team to win the team point.  This is a stroke play/golfweek ranked event  as well. The first day you will play with another TJGT team member.  Stroke Play rules apply. You cannot help each other as in match play.  The last round you will be paired according to score for Golfweek Rankings guidelines.  Bottom Line:  Go low and TJGT will retain the Cup.  The Cup is displayed at the DornickHills CC.

7. Weather:  Forecast looks good. Make sure you bring rain/wind suits. 

8. Banquet: Mandatory for all players. Please contact Mr. Jones if you cannot make the banquet. Please note the dress on the schedule of events.

9.  First Tee time starts each day at 0810.  this is a short course designed for walking. The greens at Dornick Hills make this course challenging.    Expect to play in foursomes in a 5 hr. round. there is no way to play under that time due to the course layout. The Maxwell Collegiate tournament  played each year averages 5:20.

10. We encourage each of you to have fun. This is a Canon Cup Team atmosphere so TJGT will provide face paint and lots of hair spray at the registration table.  Let's get fired up to beat the OJGT.  Please remember the Ok juniors do not play High School Golf in the fall. They really get up for this event so come prepared to root on your teammates.

11. Tee Times: OJGT will handle the tee times & pairings. The should email me the tee times NLT Thursday and I will post on the tour info page.  Teams will be published at the tournament site. 

12. Spectator Carts. Dornick Hills has limited carts. If you need a spectator cart plz come early to purchase.

13. Fool Sponsorship for Players:  Today we learned the foundation that was to sponsor the food costs for players and staff did not come thru.  Many of you have generously given to the TJGT. We are asking each one to consider donating to the player food costs(lunches & dinner.)  The budget for tournament food & Beverage for players is $4000.  All donations will be used for this costs only.

College Coach Question & Answer Panel:  Upstairs Dining Room: 7:30 -9:00 pm. 

 Panel of College Golf Coaches will answer your questions with a moderator. These events are usually standing room only and contain valuable information to players and parents. .

SATURDAY, Oct 27th.

 Registration Opens: 0700 @ Scoreboard Area. Players must wear uniform designated by OJGT or TJGT @ wear Nike Sponsored Team Hats. Face Paint, Halloween theme encouraged. Show Team Spirit.   

 Range Opens: 0730   First Tee Time: 0810  #1 & #10 Tee Boxes

Foursomes @ 10 Min. Intervals.   Players at the Tee Box 10 Min Early:   

  Lunch:  Players & College Coaches (Sandwich, bottled water, Chips/fruit) No Cost

 Parents/Spectators: $6   Spectators are free to purchase lunch & breakfast inside dining room as well.  Dornick Hills CC will provide beverage cart on the course for drinks/food as well for spectators.

5:30-6:30 pm Main Building: Social Hour

Dress: Nice Casual/Semi-Formal  No jeans/No Shorts

Men: Nice slacks/golf shirt  Women: Slacks or dresses, no shorts

Players/ Staff-Upstairs  (Water, Tea, Soft drinks  & snacks provided to  players at no cost)

Parents/Spectators-Downstairs   Cash Bar: No Charges

Dinner Buffet: 6:30pm-Players/Staff-Upstairs   Parents/Spectators-Downstairs

 Cost: $15  Please purchase buffet ticket at Tournament Registration of at Club Bar.

Menu: Fried Chicken Dinner with all the Fixings: Tea & Water. Cash Bar.

Banquet Program: 7:45-9:00 pm.

 ATTN: COLLEGE COACHES:  Free lunch provided each day. Please check in at tournament registration or tournament staff.

 SPECTATOR CARTS: $25 at Pro Shop:  First Come/first serve.  Come early before all sold out. Putting greens and tee boxes are very close. Please keep up with your group and know when players in front of you are teeing off. Exhibit good course etiquette.
